Cash & Moose Beat Parvo!

We pulled 2 little puppies, Cash & Moose, from a Texas shelter (that only has outdoor kennels) right before the evening temps dropped to freezing.  But by the next day they had stopped eating and our foster (and rescue partner Marissa Garcia) rushed them to her local vet.  They were both diagnosed with parvo which is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease - for puppies the mortality rate from parvo is very high.

Luckily there is a new monoclonal antibody treatment available to help puppies fight parvo but unfortunately it is expensive and not all vet practices have it.  The local vet didn't have any so we arranged to have them treated by another vet (several cities away) that had the treatment.  There is no guarantee that the treatment would work, but we had to try.

Moose responded to treatment fairly quickly and was able to come home with his foster after a 3 day vet hospital stay.  Poor Cash however, wasn't responding as well and had to stay in the vet hospital.

But the happy news is that Cash has now recovered and after 6 days in the vet hospital he is now back home with his foster and reunited with Moose.  Check out our Facebook page to see a video of Cash and Moose playing this morning.  We couldn't be happier!!!

Their vet bills totaled $4,691.73 and any donations towards this expense is greatly appreciated.
