Bear is young, handsome, big boy who is fully of energy.  He's a total sweetheart who is very friendly with people and other dogs.  He loves to run and play (especially wrestle).  But most importantly, Bear needs a home.

He was dumped in a cemetery (a known dumping area of dogs, yes, can you imagine ) in rural Texas.  He was just sitting there day in, day out, all alone, and our hearts just broke.  He was taken in by Animal Control and brought to the shelter - the same shelter that fills up quickly, and no one ever adopts the dogs from there.  When it came time to make room for new dogs, the killing was about to start.  We were lucky that we were able to save 6 dogs from there, including this boy, Bear.

He is currently being fostered in TX, but needs to find an adopter or foster in the NJ area.  He has already been neutered and vaccinated, and he tested negative for heartworm.

We believe he's a German Shepherd and Lab mix, who is around two years old and weighs 63 pounds.

The best fit will for Bear will be with an adopter who has experience with the breed and who is willing to work with him.   Due to his energy he would do best in a house with a fenced yard so he can run, and we think older kids are better (just because he might knock young kids over due to his size/energy).

  • Personality: energetic, friendly, playful, affectionate
  • Good with: people, and dogs.  Has not been young child or cat tested yet.
  • Training: unknown at this time
  • Estimated date of birth: February 2024
  • Weight: 63.7 pounds
  • Medical: vetted, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped
  • Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next transport.
