This incredible boy Ryder has seen some tough times, but he hasn't let that change his sweet personality.  Ryder is a 64 pound american staffordshire terrier mix who is estimated to be about a year old.  He loves to cuddle and play tug of war.  He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is very gentle with his smaller foster sibling.  He hasn't been around cats or children but due to his gentle personality we don't anticipate there would be any issues.  His foster mom says he was a "sweetie from the moment she picked him up."  He's potty trained and knows how to use a doggie door, he's also neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Ryder's start to life was rough.  He was found extremely emaciated and was trying to survive by eating rocks and sticks.  He also had very bad calluses from laying around on cement and rough terrain all day.  His first foster dropped him off at a vet and never came back to claim him.  The vet was going to return him to the shelter where he would have been euthanized due to lack of space.  Luckily a new foster stepped up to give him the love and attention he had been missing out on.  Thanks to their loving care Ryder has gained a healthy amount of weight and his calluses are disappearing.  Now he just needs to find his forever family.

• Good with: people and dogs (has not been around kids or cat tested yet but he is gentle with other smaller dogs)
• Training: housebroken and can use a doggy door,  knows the "sit" command

• Medical: vetted, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped
• Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next transport.
