All neglect stories are heartbreaking, but it really pulls on your heartstrings when they are tiny little puppies.  The important thing is that little Zeek is now in a temporary foster home with a caring foster mom who is giving him lots of love and keeping him safe.

Zeek was found as a stray - abandoned and left to survive on his own.  He was taken to a shelter and was going to be euthanized due to lack of space.  He was only 2 or so months old at the time.   This poor little guy was covered in fleas.  They were so bad that his little body had bald patches in multiple places.  Luckily one of our rescue partners pulled him out and rushed him to the vet where he was treated for anemia (due to the fleas).  His ear also has bite marks, and the theory is that it may have been rat bites.  Needless to say, poor Zeek has had a very rough start to life.  But the good new is that  Zeek is now fully healed and is happy, healthy and full of puppy energy and enthusiasm.

Zeek is a m ale, who is estimated to be about 6 months old (as of June), and weighs 16 lbs. We don't know his mix but we do know that h e's a very smart boy.  He's already potty trained, and he knows to go sit by the door to go outside.  He's had no accidents in his foster home. He's crate trained (and sleeps through the night), and comes when he's called.  He loves meeting new friends (both people and other dogs) and he loves to play...and if there's nobody around to play with, he will amuse himself by playing catch with his toys - he'll throw them up in the air.  Zeek adores being around other dogs and we'd love to find him a home that has one or more resident pups that he can snuggle and play with.

Zeek is eager to please, and food motivated which helps make training easier!

• Location: Zeek is currently staying  with a temporary local foster.  If approved to adopt you can schedule a meet and greet .
