Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Medium
MJ and Molly are the sweetest cuddle bugs I’ve fostered! They are one-year-old terrier mixes that were surrendered by their owner when she could no longer afford to keep them. They are sisters and very closely bonded so for this reason, we are looking to adopt them together. They love their human companions and are guaranteed to sit on you (they think they are lap dogs!) or next to you on the couch. If you are working around the house, they are happy to hang out together in their crate or sit at your feet until you have time to cuddle on the couch. They love to give kisses and love to be hugged. They are fine with children but do get excited when playing so older children (8 years +) would do better with them.
MJ (brown face) is approx. 49lbs in weight. She is super friendly and approaches strangers without any qualms. She’s the Walmart greeter!
Molly (black/white) is approx. 44 lbs. She is very outgoing and has just discovered toys and loves her plush ball. She is a very happy-go-lucky dog.
They seem to have been kept crated most of the time and sleep together in a crate overnight though they would be fine left uncrated. They view the crate as their safe place and Molly especially likes to sit in the crate sometimes during the day. After they bond with their adopters, they would probably love to sleep in the bed in their forever home. They show high energy first thing when they come out of the crate in the morning but settle down after a walk. They have moments of high energy but are also happy to snooze at mom’s feet while she works on the computer. They are both reliably housebroken. They know basic commands like sit, stay and pay attention when you correct with a “no.” They have shown no destructive tendencies in the home at all. They shed minimally and are fine in a car.
They have done well with other dogs they have met. They are both curious about cats but in the few days we have had them, we’ve been able to redirect them with a “no” and they have left the resident cat alone. It seems they would be able to be trained to live peacefully with a cat though they may chase a running cat.
These girls need a fenced yard of their own. Molly is a jumper so a 6ft fence is preferred. They don’t seem to have had toys up to now or have been leash walked. Both pull on a leash but are manageable on a Gentle Leader harness.
They are currently being fostered in Washington, NJ.
