Cane Corso Mastiff / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Young : : Large
Dixie is in a unique situation in TX. Please read her story!
Dixie lived outside, no matter if it was winter or summer. Now that her person is in jail, the neighbor cares for Dixie. That means she gets fed but no vet care or inside living. The house is situated near a highway which puts her life in danger.
When the neighbor suspected she was pregnant, he asked our rescue/foster partner to take her in until she was no more needed for the puppies. She gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies on October 19th and will stay with her foster until the puppies are weaned.
She is a fantastic mother in the way she takes care of her babies.
About Dixie:
Dixie is a big sweetheart, said to be two-year-old Cane Corso and a Shep mix. Her weight now is only 80 lbs, and her ideal weight should be between 90-110 lbs. The foster mom who cares for Dixie will bring her to total health!!
Good with all the animals on the foster's premises.
Good with humans, but we recommend teenagers at home because of her size, which now is about 80 lbs. We hope she will gain another 10-15 lbs to have the recommended weight for her.
What will happen with sweet Dixie after the puppies are adopted?
*She lives outside winter/summer like most south dogs.
*The house has no fenced yard, and she is roaming the streets in great danger, as the house is located on a massive highway.
*Her owner is not around
*No vet care at all!!
**We decided to spay her before she is going back to outside living.
**IF SHE FINDS THE PERFECT FAMILY TO COME TO IN NJ/PA/NY/CT, WE WILL WORK HARD TO CONVINCE THE "OWNER" TO LET HER GO.
She is doing good with other dogs and cats.
She loves to run and play, but not for long periods.
She does jump when she's happy to see you. The foster is working on it.
We feel Dixie will do well in a house with another dog on the larger side.
Backyard to run and play in.
With older children because of her size.
With an experienced owner with that sized dog.
