Husky / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Medium
We don't know what happened to Ivory and how long she's been out alone. No collar and no tag. But they couldn't hide her microchip.
Ivory was adopted from our rescue in 2021 by a NJ resident. Long story short, she was found in VA as a lost dog at the beginning of April this year.
Calls to the owner didn't explain how she found her way to va. Furthermore, she said the dog went to a friend of hers and was deceased after being hit by a car. Hmm ?
Petlink was very helpful and gave us the finder information, but it didn't help since she never answered or returned our calls.?
She did mention to the Petlink representative that she would keep the dog because her children fell in love with Ivory. Telling her she can't keep someone else's dog didn't impress her.
At the end of April, Ivory was found all alone in PA, when the family who found her took her in, took them to the vet to scan her, and sure enough, she is deceased ?
It's a long story with so many question marks that we'll never get answers for.
Now, we need to find the perfect family for beautiful Ivory.
Ivory is a Husky Shepherd mix.
She is about four years old and weighs around 60lbs.
She has a beautiful shiny coat, maybe because she is fed raw food.
She has a lovely temperament.
She shows no aggressive behavior with people, dogs, cats, or kids. She's currently in a house with 2 cats that she either ignores or wants to play with.
She listens to basic commands.
She walks well on a leash and generally listens when off leash except when she spots prey, she will chase it (Huskies have high prey )
She's not a barker and is generally calm.
She is very comfortable in a crate.
She is potty trained.
She loves to wade in water and will lay in it constantly. So if you have a pool, she will love it.
Things to work on
She will be in your space if not given attention or walks for her to use her energy.
She likes to rummage through trash cans, eat tissues, and whatever else she can get. It manifests in her upset stomach. Trash cans need to be covered!
Best family for Ivory
She needs this time a stable, loving, caring, for the rest of her life, home!!
Huskies and shepherds are known for their energy, and owners need to have experience with the breeds. She will be great going with you on hiking, running mates, playing with other dogs, taking long walks, and doing any other way to use her energy positively and enjoyably.
A yard with a high fence is a plus.
