Our hearts are breaking for Ava.  She is currently in an outdoor kennel in a shelter in TX.  We saw pictures of her skin infection and knew we had to do something to try and help her so we arranged for her to be taken to a vet.  The vet discovered that not only is she suffering from the skin infection but she is also positive for heartworm as well as a few other tick-borne diseases which are fairly common in the south.

We have paid for her skin treatments and have started her on the first step of the tick-borne and heartworm treatments.  However, this poor girl is still in the shelter as we have no available fosters in TX that can take her in.  We aren't giving up hope for her and will continue to try to find a temporary foster home for her so she can heal and recover in a comfortable space.

Ava is estimated to be 2 years old and she weighs 44 pounds.  If you would like to apply to adopt Ava, we will bring her to the NJ area once she has completed her treatments.
